Giulio is an environmental scientist specialised in soil and environmental field monitoring. His main current research focuses on the use of active distributed temperature sensing (A-DTS) techniques for detecting the occurrence of water turbidity spikes in groundwater wells and for soil moisture monitoring.

Dr Curioni has co-supervised and provided training and support to a number of MSc and PhD students conducting laboratory or field work. He also delivered a number of lectures to undergraduates on soil compaction and shallow geophysical techniques.

Other activities

Dr Curioni is a member of the task group (reference: WK57572) for updating the ASTM D6780/D6780M-12 Standard Test Method for Water Content and Density of Soil In situ by Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR).
