Kat is a Lecturer in Urban and Regional Planning within CURS. Kat is a Chartered Town Planner and has extensive knowledge and practical experiences of national, local and neighbourhood planning processes in England and Wales.

Biography

Kat has returned to academia following 8 years as a practicing planner which has shaped her research focus and interests on the implementation of planning policy. Kat has previously held posts in local government (Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council), National Government (Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government) and the third sector (Planning Aid England, RTPI).

Kat is completing a PhD at the University of Reading and her research explores how the localism agenda is being interpreted and implemented by local planning authorities (LPAs) in England by exploring their response to neighbourhood planning.

Kat has published widely on neighbourhood planning in both academic and policy orientated forms and is an active member of the RTPI.

Research

Participation in planning, local government, central government, politics and policy design and implementation.

Kat is a Chartered Member of the RTPI.
