Martin Müller is a political and urban geographer interested in how the social and the material hold together and fall apart. His empirical work focuses on the planning and impacts of large urban developments such as mega-events and on the Global East.

He is professor at the University of Lausanne in Switzerland, where he heads the research team M3, and is associated with the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences as an Honorary Senior Research Fellow.

Martin read for a Master of Philosophy at the University of Cambridge and received a PhD in Human Geography from Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main. He has held fellowships at the universities of Oxford, British Columbia in Vancouver, North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Vrije Universiteit Brussel and at the Institute for Advanced Study in Marseille.

Martin Müller co-founded and co-directs the Center for Global Urbanism at Ural Federal University in Ekaterinburg, Russia.
