teaching

The Birmingham and West Midlands Schools Classics Hub invite headteachers, academy executives, heads of department, and any teachers from state schools and sixth forms in the region to join us as we make the case for Classics.

Through Classics for All’s generous grants programme, state schools can access funding and training to support the development of classical subjects across the curriculum (Ancient Greek, Latin, Ancient History, Classical Civilisation).

We will cover:

  • How Classics can enrich the curriculum at key stages 3, 4, and 5;
  • How to get courses up and running without specialist Classics teachers;
  • How to develop provision: from an after-school club to a timetabled lesson;
  • How ancient languages can be introduced as part of timetabled English, MFL, or literacy lessons;
  • How Classics can be embedded across the curriculum, through History, English, Drama, RE, Science, PSHE, etc.;
  • How to access Classics for All funding and training opportunities;
  • How to access post-training support.
