LLB Law in Action I

Student taking notes in a lecture

Module description:

This is a project module generally taken in the second semester of year 1 by students on the LLB programme. The module is designed to build on some of the basic foundational material covered in the Legal Methods and Skills module which students take in the first semester. Students taking the Law in Action module undertake project work on a topic connected with one of the core subjects studied in first year (i.e. a project on a topic connected with Criminal Law; Contract Law; or Public Law).  The focus of each topic/project area is intended to complement a student’s substantive studies in one of the relevant core subject areas, with an emphasis on applying or examining the relevant topic area in “a real world context”. Hence the title “Law in Action”. This module also has a pronounced focus on skills necessary for undertaking project work, including basic legal research skills, as well as skills connected with legal and academic writing.
