LLM Dubai Profile: Zaynab Ahmed
Our LLM International Commercial Law student Zayneb tells us how our world-class Law School supports her career ambitions.
Why did you choose your programme, and to study at the University of Birmingham Dubai?
Birmingham Law School was always on my list given the incredibly renowned focus on facilitating world-class learning experiences and research. To experience exactly that while working and living in Dubai was definitely a win. Not to forget the range of modules and the syllabus that are provided in the LLM course at the University of Birmingham Dubai: very practical and relevant.
What has your class experience been like in your degree programme?
The environment our lecturers had created at the University of Birmingham Dubai was always one that was engaging and gave room to an incredible exchange of experiences and expertise from highly competent lecturers and classmates that came from different cultures and with experiences of their own.
What has your student experience been like so far?
My journey at the University of Birmingham Dubai was and continues to be a holistic one, from being part of an alumnus of a Top 100 University in the world, to getting access to world-class legal resources, online platforms and academics. I really and truly discovered my potential and strengths that will without a doubt allow me to navigate my professional life much smarter.
What are you hoping to achieve by undertaking the LLM with Birmingham?
My target outcome prior to commencing my LLM was really to gain an in-depth knowledge of commercial law from an international perspective and gain the confidence in seeking opportunities within the field. But little did I know, I did not have to wait till I was done, during my course I was able to secure a position within a top multinational organisation in Dubai where I was able to implement all the knowledge I had gained. I am confident that this program will continue to open many doors in the future for me and hopefully allow me to be more confident with my abilities and knowledge.
What advice would you give to prospective students?
My advice would be, always make sure you're fully there, in your entirety, during your lectures or any extracurricular activities you become part of. Take advantage of all the resources you will soon be given access to, don’t hesitate to ask questions and enjoy your time while you're at it!
