Nia worked as an employment solicitor in private practice for many years.  Her love of client training led to a move to legal education. She worked at the University of Law teaching on both the LLB and LPC courses before moving to the University of Birmingham in 2021.  Nia assists the Law School’s Director of Careers in organising work experience and has a particular interest in supporting students develop both their employability and professional skills.

Biography

Nia qualified as a solicitor at the Birmingham office of Pinsent Masons, specialising in employment law.  She moved to Burges Salmon in Bristol for a few years, later returning to Pinsent Masons where she became a Senior Associate.  She appeared frequently in the Employment Tribunal although she favoured corporate support work over litigation.  Nia particularly enjoyed delivering client training on employment law issues and so a move into legal education was a natural step for her.  She has taught A Level Law at Highclare School and on the LLB and LPC programmes at the University of Law.  She joined the University of Birmingham as a Teaching Fellow in 2021 having worked as a Visiting Lecturer prior to that.
