Before joining as a Lecturer, Emma was a PhD candidate at the School of Law and the School of Computer Science at the University of Birmingham. She had previously worked as a junior researcher and academic tutor at the University of Amsterdam. She conducted research on international law and social justice under supervision of Professor Ingo Venzke, and taught modules on public international law, legal theory, political theory, philosophy of the social sciences, and human rights.
Emma holds an LLM from Queens’ College, University of Cambridge and a BSc in Politics, Psychology, Law, and Economics (PPLE) from the University of Amsterdam. To complement her legal training, she spent the first year of her doctoral research following modules in Computer Science, specifically focused on machine learning and computer vision technologies.
