Gearóidín is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Research Fellow at Birmingham Law School. She is working on a project called ‘Legal Recognition of Sign Languages’ to investigate the effectiveness of laws which grant recognition to sign languages in Ireland, the UK and Finland. Gearóidín has particular interests in law and language, human rights, minority rights, criminal law and policing, feminism and reproductive justice.

Qualifications

  • BCL (Law and Irish) from University College Cork, Ireland (2010-2014)
  • MSocSc in International Human Rights Law at the Institute for Human Rights in Åbo Akademi in Finland (2014-2016)
  • PhD on the Right to a Fair Trial for Minority Language Users from Dublin City University, School of Law and Government (2016-2021).
