Ms Spataru is a Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher, recruited by the SAPIENS Network – an Innovative Training Network financed by the EU’s Horizon 2020 Marie Curie Sklodowska Programme. She pursues a PhD programme at the University of Birmingham and conducts her research on the procurement chapters of third-generation Free Trade Agreements as new instruments to further sustainability in procurement in their economic and political contexts.

  • During her Bachelor degree, Ms Spataru was awarded the Scholarship of the President of Republic of Moldova for great performances in the domain of scientific research.

Biography

Ms Spataru is specialized in European Union law and international cooperation. Throughout the course of her career and education, she has engaged with cross-border procurement practices, international aid instruments and EU legal matters.

Her work as a university researcher at the University of Turin, was focused on the application of the EU procurement provisions on national practice and different perspectives and interpretations influenced by different legal traditions at the national level.

Ms Spataru’s work for the European Union Delegation in Kyrgyzstan (Cooperation section) specialised her in international aid and cooperation instruments on the resilience mechanisms through which the EU cooperates with its developing partners.

Her other professional experience includes: working in the private sector as a legal adviser for Lumen Legis Law firm; volunteering experience in providing free legal services to economically disadvantaged people.
