I transcribe and analyse the music of Tiburtio Massaino, one of the most prolific of a ‘forgotten’ generation of late seicento composers. While my main focus is on this one composer, I also study the unknown music of his northern Italian contemporaries such as Belli, Capilupi, Casolani, Leoni, Spontone, Valcampi, Zucchini, and others.
