Introduction to Developmental Psychology

Description

Students will be introduced to the field of developmental psychology. Lectures will cover:

  • Key perspectives and issues in the field (e.g. the nature-nurture issue)
  • How psychologists study development
  • The development of thinking
  • Developmental disorders
  • Numerical development or drawing
  • Intelligence
  • Parenting and attachment
  • Moral development
  • Anti-social behaviour 

Delivery

  • 10 x 1 lectures
  • 2 x 1 hour workshops
  • 10x 1 office hour

Assessment

  • Coursework (25%)
  • Examination paper (75%)

Please note that the format of papers in the supplementary examinations may differ from the equivalent main examination paper or class test. Re-sit and deferral students should check the details of the assessment format of supplementary examinations with the Module Leader.
