Dr Paul Luke is a Teaching Associate at the University of Birmingham where he teaches on Social Policy and Sociology. His research focuses on contemporary debates in the UK welfare state, on (Universal) Basic Income as a policy debate, and on utopia as a methodological tool of sociology.

Biography

Dr Paul Luke completed his PhD in Sociology and Social Policy at the University of Leeds in March 2020. He took up the role of Teaching Associate in Social Policy, Sociology and Criminology at University of Birmingham in October 2021.

Prior to his PhD, he studied at Oxford Brookes, completing an MA in International Studies in September 2014, and completed (as a mature student) a BA in Politics (with Law) at London Metropolitan University in 2010. Paul has worked in a variety of non-academic roles prior to, and in-between, periods of academic study, including as an assistant department manager in a busy supermarket, as an inventory controller in a major library relocation, and in telecom sales, as well as being the treasurer of a small charity.

Is Basic Income deliverable through cryptocurrency: an analysis of cryptocurrency projects focused on Basic Income.

Disciplining the left: media reactions to Green Party polling gains in the UK.
