Daniel is a NIHR Doctoral Fellow and general surgery registrar in Yorkshire. He is undertaking a PhD investigating the management of right sided obstructing colonic cancers in the UK which is funded by the NIHR and Bowel Research UK (BRUK).

Biography

Daniel is from Yorkshire and studied medicine at the University of Leicester. He gained an early interest in general surgery and academia, completing an intercalated research degree at the University of Sheffield. He graduated from Leicester in 2020 with Honours and was recognised as the highest performing student in his cohort. He completed the academic foundation programme at Sheffield University Teaching Hospitals.

Daniel went on to complete his core surgical training in Yorkshire, and was successfully appointed to higher speciality training in General surgery in Yorkshire, ranking in the top 5 of candidates nationally. Following a competitive application process, Daniel was awarded the prestigious NIHR Doctoral Fellowship to undertake a PhD on ‘Emergency Management of Right-sided Obstructing Colonic Cancers: time to change approach?’.
