Biography

After graduating with a 1st in Mathematics and Philosophy from the University of Birmingham, Phoebe undertook an NIHR funded statistics internship within the School of Nursing and Midwifery. Following on from this, Phoebe secured a position as a research associate on the Department of Applied Health Sciences’ Biostatistics Evidence Synthesis Test Evaluation and Prediction Modelling (BESTEAM) Team. Here she worked on a wide range of research projects focusing on topics such as chronic kidney disease, newborn bloodspot screening, and ovarian cancer and successfully applied for an NIHR Predoctoral Award. The award covered the fees for Phoebe to enrol in the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine’s MSc Medical Statistics programme. Having recently submitted her summer MSc project on risk behaviour clustering in adolescents, Phoebe has now returned to UoB for the second year of the Predoc. She is returning to working on applied health research projects and acting as a practical assistant for a collection of statistics modules.
