Along with the rest of the Insessional team, I teach and support students currently working on their main programmes of study at the University of Birmingham. I work with students at Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and PhD levels, across a wide range of disciplines, to improve their clarity, accuracy, and confidence in academic writing and communications.

Biography

I have taught English for Academic Purposes (EAP) in UK universities since 2014, and have been fortunate to work with students from a huge range of countries, language backgrounds, disciplines and levels of study; I like to think I have learned as much from them as they have from me (if not more!) I have taught at the universities of Hull, Birmingham, BCU, York, and Oxford Brookes, and have particular interests in assessment literacy, widening participation, and the development of materials and courses for specific academic disciplines.

Teaching

I currently teach across our range of Insessional core and departmental programmes, but have also taught on a number of Pre-sessional and Foundation courses both at the BIA and at other institutions.
