He has a PhD in economic history from the London School of Economics and is an Honorary Research Fellow in the Department of Economics. Dr. Francis is currently writing books on Argentina and the United States. Qualifications PhD in Economic History, London School of Economics, 2014 MSc in Economic History (Research), Distinction, London School of Economics, 2009 BSc in International Studies, First class honours, Open University, 2005 Biography After finishing his PhD at the LSE in 2014, Joseph worked with his father as a hill farmer in Wales. He is now an independent scholar, researching various topics: the political economy of Argentina and the United States, as well as contemporary issues in economics. Joseph is represented by the J.P. His work on Argentina analyzes the country's political economy from 1800 up to the present. He is also completing a manuscript on the growth of American capitalism up to 1900, with a particular emphasis on the role of slavery and its legacies. A sequel will look at the political economy of the United States from 1900 to today. Finally, a new project is using replication studies to investigate the methodologies and institutions of economics. As part of that project, Joseph is developing a tool that uses large language models to both detect problems in published research and help researchers improve work in progress.
