David joined Birmingham Business School in 2021 as a lecturer in the Department of Management. David takes a keen interest in subnational economic development and policy. His research encompasses several broad themes within this area, and has recently included work on the drivers of regional variation in the 2016 Brexit vote as well as some of the regional consequences of this. He is a member of the department's Business and Labour Economics (BLE) group.

Biography

Prior to his appointment at the University of Birmingham, David worked in the Centre for Brexit Studies at Birmingham City University, where he conducted research into a variety of areas related to Brexit and engaged with a number of media outlets (principally radio).
