Xiaojun Wang is a Chair in Operations and Supply Chain Management at Birmingham Business School, University of Birmingham. Prior to joining Birmingham, he was a Professor of Operations Management and the Head of Operations and Management Science, Innovation & Healthcare Academic Group at School of Management, University of Bristol. His research interests include supply chain management, low carbon manufacturing, sustainability, coopetition, healthcare operations, e-business, and social media research.

Biography

Professor Xiaojun Wang is a Chair in Operations and Supply Chain Management at Birmingham Business School, University of Birmingham. Prior to joining Birmingham, he was a Professor of Operations Management and the Head of Operations and Management Science, Innovation & Healthcare Academic Group at School of Management, University of Bristol. For this role, he was responsible for workload allocation and staffing for proper running of education and research programmes in the academic group consisting of 28 academics.

Xiaojun’s research interests are broad and interdisciplinary. He has followed a focused research agenda that is anchored within Operations and Supply Chain Management. His research predominantly adopts the analytical and empirical approaches including game theory, optimisation, machine learning, and econometrics; and applies to operations and supply chain management related topics. He has recently extended his research portfolio to other related domains such as sustainability, coopetition, and machine learning applications in tackling real world problems with high economic, societal and environmental impacts. His research has been funded by a range of funders including UKRI, the Royal Society, the Newton Fund, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China generating over £1M competitive research funding as principal investigator or co-investigator.

 Xiaojun has published over 80 peer-reviewed papers in international renowned management journals including Production and Operations Management, European Journal of Operational Research, Omega, International Journal of Production Economics, Decision Support Systems, Journal of Business Ethics, and British Journal of Management. He has over “6,000” citations with h-index “42” on Google Scholar (January 2023). He has been included in recent editions of Stanford University's prestigious list of the World Top 2% scientists for citation impact, and among the top Business and Management Scientists in the UK.
