Jack graduated from the University of Warwick with a BSc degree in chemistry in 2020. He then completed a MSc by Research with Professor Vasilios Stavros at the University of Warwick on “Investigating the Ultrafast Photodynamics of Nature Inspired Chromophores”. Jack’s research in ultrafast spectroscopy continued into his PhD with Vas at the University of Warwick on “Employing Ultrafast Laser Spectroscopy Techniques to Identify and Design Nature-Inspired Chromophores for Photoprotection Applications”.
Jack joined the School of Chemistry at University of Birmingham in 2025, conducting a short post-doctoral research fellowship to establish a new ultrafast laser lab with Professor Stavros. Following the successful acquisition of funding for a laser facility through the EPSRC, Jack now manages FASTCHEM, University of Birmingham’s ultrafast laser facility.
