Richard is a professional Programme, Project and Risk manager who joined the University of Birmingham from the Design, Engineering and Project Management Consultancy Atkins. His experience focuses on innovative transformation of engineering systems (encompassing Processes, Organisation, Tools and information). Richard led the Atkins Global professional services Programme Management Steering group for 5 years (2011 to 2015), and has experience in designing and delivering business management transformation for Global Civil Engineering and IT professionals in multiple sectors including Highways, Rail, Aerospace, Defence, Energy, Water, Design, Environment, Engineering, Asset Management, and Project Management. Further experience includes ISO9001 accreditation, “dot.com” start up and software architecture.
Specific Topics for teaching and research include Project Management best practice and application, Construction Management, Information Management Systems, Stakeholder Management, Total Quality Management, Value Management, Major Project Management Systems, Project Communications, Risk Management and Building Information Modelling.
Richard is the Project (Programme) Manager for the School of Engineering’s 3 year £27.6M UKCRIC programme, encompassing a new National Buried Infrastructure Facility (NBIF) with moving floor and augmented TRAIN Rig facility.
