Thomas Addison qualified in 1999 from the University of Birmingham with Distinction in Clinical Dentistry and has spent nearly 18 years working in general practice. He was the first person to attain the then new, MSc in General Dental Practice from the University of Birmingham which was awarded with Distinction in 2006. He also holds the Fellowship of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners from the Royal College of Surgeons.
He joined the University staff in 2006, taking up a role as a Clinical Tutor on a part time basis whilst maintaining a busy NHS practice list. As an experienced practitioner he has been able to successfully develop students for future practice in the clinical practice teaching environment. In the early 2017 he left clinical practice completely taking up the role of Senior Dental Tutor, heading up the Restorative Phase component of Clinical Practice and Head of Firm 4A. In 2020 Mr Addison was appointed to Head of Education (Undergraduate).
