Biography

Thomas Addison qualified in 1999 from the University of Birmingham with Distinction in Clinical Dentistry.

He joined the University staff in 2006, taking up a role as a Clinical Tutor on a part time basis whilst maintaining a busy NHS practice list. As an experienced practitioner he has been able to successfully develop students for future practice in the clinical practice teaching environment. In early 2017 he left clinical practice and took up a full time post in the School of Dentistry where in 2020 he was appointed as the Head of Undergraduate Education. Since January 2023, he has taken on the Postgraduate Taught remit, combining the roles as Head of Education. With his experience of general practice, he is committed to supporting students throughout their university career as well as after graduation. He is involved in several aspects of clinical teaching with generalist clinical skills, however, does now focus his own clinical time in the field of Endodontics and Restorative Dentistry.
