Dr Morris joined the University in 2017 having previously worked for Public Health England and the NHS as a consultant in Dental Public Health.  He is also a part-time general dental practitioner.

Dr Morris is module lead for Dental Public Health in years 3-5 and lead for outreach teaching. 

 Dr Morris has research interests in the following areas:

  • Dental epidemiology
  • Dental services commissioning
  • Water fluoridation
  • Oral cancer
  • Management of performance concerns in primary care

Biography

Since graduating Dr Morris has worked in hospital, community and general practice. Dr Morris has previously been an academic with the University of Birmingham between 1992 and 2008, leaving to take up a post as assistant director of dental commissioning and consultant in dental public health with the Staffordshire cluster of Primary Care Trusts.  From 2013 to 2017 Dr Morris was the national lead for water fluoridation with Public Health England and regional consultant for the Midlands and East of England.  Dr Morris has previously been module lead for the University MPH oral health and dental services module.  Dr Morris has been a trainer for dental public health specialist registers since 2004.  Since 2016 Dr Morris has been an examiner for the dental public health Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Examination for the UK Royal Colleges.  Dr Morris continues to work part-time as a general dental practitioner.
