Noshaba Anbreen is an Assistant Professor of Education at the University of Birmingham Dubai and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). She oversees the Department for Education (DfE) accredited International Qualified Teacher Status (iQTS) teacher training programmes. A proud alumna of the University of Birmingham, Noshaba leads the very programme she once participated in as a student teacher at the Edgbaston campus, and where she served as a school-based mentor.
Noshaba's educator journey commenced at the largest girls' school in Europe, located in inner-city Birmingham. Here, she embarked on her first pastoral leadership role as Head of Year 11 while simultaneously teaching Biology and Psychology at GCSE and A-level. She further honed her expertise in subject leadership as Head of Biology at King Edwards College Stourbridge. Her career trajectory then led her to Qatar, where she assumed the role of Head of the Science Department at an international school, further enriching her extensive experience in diverse educational environments.
With a career spanning 17 years, Noshaba has worked across various global contexts, including the UAE, UK, Baltistan, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Malawi, and Malaysia. This international exposure has greatly influenced her approach to education, emphasising the critical relationship between pedagogy and practice.
Noshaba is a core member of the educational charities UPSIGN and EqualEd, where she contributes to multiple teacher training projects. Her research is particularly focused on the innovation of teacher training through digital education, aiming to broaden access to research-informed pedagogical development on an international scale. Her passion for STEM teacher training, Secondary Science Education, and addressing the digital divide in education drives her scholarly and practical endeavors.
Currently, Noshaba is pursuing a PhD in Digital Pedagogy at the University of Birmingham, concentrating on Educator digital competence and confidence. Her commitment to advancing the field of education is underscored by her continuous efforts to integrate digital tools and methodologies in teacher training programmes, enhancing the pedagogical skills and confidence of educators worldwide.
