Dr Imran Qureshi is the Head of Engineering at the University of Birmingham Dubai campus and an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He possesses academic as well as significant industrial experience in his field. Prior to joining University of Birmingham, he worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the American University of Sharjah, UAE.

Dr Qureshi earned his PhD in Engineering Sciences from the University of Oxford UK, while working on a major European research programme TATEF-II (Turbine Aero-Thermal External Flows) focused on the performance improvement of gas turbine engines for the aerospace and power generation industries.

After his doctorate, Dr Qureshi joined the aero-engine design team in the Civil Aerospace sector of Roll-Royce UK and worked in various industrial roles for over 5 years before joining the academic career. In his various technical roles related to the design/development of aero-engines at Rolls-Royce UK, he worked as part of Turbine Design team as an Aero-thermal engineer and later moved on to join the Whole-Engine Design team as a Gas Turbine Performance Engineer. He worked on various technical projects in the development of Rolls-Royce Trent engines designed for the Airbus and Boeing commercial aircraft.
