Dr. Anis Zarrad is an Associate Professor in the School of Computer Science at the University of Birmingham, Dubai. He holds a BSc and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Ottawa, as well as an MSc in Computer Science from Concordia University. Dr. Zarrad's research primarily revolves around mobile Collaborative Virtual Environments (CVE) and Search-Based Software Engineering (SBSE). His extensive research contributions, which now also include applied Machine Learning in software testing, have been widely published in various academic journals and conferences. 

Furthermore, Dr. Zarrad has collaborated with Professor Azzedine Boukerche in the Computer Science Lab (PARADISE). During his PhD research, he concentrated on the development of a routing network protocol for mobile collaborative virtual environments, aiming to minimize network traffic and enhance overall efficiency. This multifaceted approach demonstrates Dr. Zarrad's commitment to cutting-edge research in both CVE, SBSE, and the application of Machine Learning in software testing.

Biography

Dr. Anis Zarrad is an Associate Professor in the School of Computer Science at the University of Birmingham, Dubai, a role he has held since 2018. From 2020 to 2022, he served as the Digital Lead for computer and engineering programs. 

Anis earned his Ph.D. at the University of Ottawa, Canada, and his MSc degree at Concordia University, Canada. His current research interests are centered around Search-based Software Engineering (SBSE), encompassing everything from requirements and project planning to maintenance and reengineering. His collaborative spirit is evident through active engagements with researchers from various universities. 

Beyond his academic pursuits, Anis has made significant contributions to over ten conference and workshop program committees. Additionally, he serves as a valued reviewer for prestigious journals affiliated with Elsevier, Springer, and IEEE. Dr. Zarrad's multifaceted contributions underscore his commitment to advancing the field of computer science.
