Michail is a Reader in RF Sensing Systems within the Microwave Integrated Systems Laboratory (MISL) at the Department of Electronic, Electrical and Systems Engineering. His main research interests include Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), bi-/multi-static radar, passive radar, MIMO and cognitive/bio-inspired radar.

He has published more than 90 papers in peer reviewed journals and international conferences, and has led research funded by DSTL, the European Commission (H2020), the European Space Agency, the British Council, and industry in this area. He has delivered workshops in several international radar conferences, in addition to serving as a technical review committee member and session chair/co-chair.

Michail is a member of NATO SETs 227 and 250 on cognitive radar and multidimensional radar imaging, respectively, an Overseas Expert for Xidian University’s Centre for Cognitive Radar Detection, Imaging and Target Recognition, and the co-chair of the SAR Focus Group of the UK Radar Society (EMSIG). He is also an Associate Editor for MDPI’s Remote Sensing Journal, as well as a regular reviewer for IEEE, IET and MDPI journals.
