Research

Research interests

Paul's field of research is public management.  He is currently researching and writing about the nature and effects of strategic management processes and capabilities in governments in Europe and elsewhere in the world.

Current project

In 2022 Paul is surveying both civil servants who have studied on a master’s programme and their line managers to assess the impact of the programme, including the transfer of learning to their work as civil servants. Some of the key factors of the study are the competence requirements of the jobs and the facilitation role of line managers. This study will be the basis of an academic output.
