Dr Maryam Parvizi is an Assistant Professor in the School of Mathematics at the University of Birmingham. Her research sits at the intersection of applied mathematics, scientific computing, and mathematical modelling, with a particular focus on the development of numerical methods for solving complex partial differential equations (PDEs). She is especially interested in applications across electromagnetics, mechanics, biology, and uncertainty quantification.
Prior to this role, Maryam was a Research Fellow in Industrial and Applied Mathematics at the University of Birmingham, working with Professsor Fabian Spill. She also held an Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship and a postdoctoral position at Leibniz University Hannover, supervised by Professor Thomas Wick, where she was a scientific member of the Cluster of Excellence PhoenixD. Additionally, she was a visiting scholar at the University of Oxford, hosted by Professor Patrick Farrell.
