Kyriakos X. Kallis qualified with an MEng degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the Control Systems Engineering Department of University of Sheffield in 2005. His interests led him to pursue and complete an MSc degree in Environmental and Energy Engineering, awarded from the Chemical Engineering Department of the University of Sheffield in 2006. He continued his studies conducting experimental research into the thermochemical conversion of biomass to produce energy and chemicals, under professor John Oakey in the University of Cranfield, where he was awarded with a PhD degree in 2012. He worked in CERTH (Centre for Research and Technology Hellas) for approximately three years in experimental projects that involved fuel treatment and catalytic hydrogen production. He is currently employed as a research fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Birmingham, where he is working on exhaust emissions and after-treatment systems for automotive vehicles.
