Vasileios is a Clinical Lecturer in Endocrinology, a post that allows him to combine his clinical training in Endocrinology and Diabetes with research and teaching.  Dr Chortis’s research focuses on adrenal tumours, with a particular interest in adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC). His PhD work explored the role of antioxidant pathway targeting as  novel therapeutic approach for ACC. As a progression of this work, Dr Chortis is currently studying the therapeutic potential of mitochondrial NADPH synthesis inhibition in the same disease. He has also been studying the diagnostic role of mass spectrometry-based steroid profiling for ACC both at baseline tumour work-up and during post-operative follow-up, in integration with computational analytical approaches.
