Biography

Janette is a post-doctoral researcher with professional experience in public health intelligence and health technology assessment. She began her career in 2008 as an analyst at the NIHR Horizon Scanning Centre (University of Birmingham), advising UK policymakers on emerging health technologies. In 2013, she joined a local government team as Principal Information Analyst, leading the public health evidence function and providing strategic advice to health and care commissioners.

She completed a PhD in Health Sciences with the University of Warwick in 2026; this explored public health intelligence challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. She now works for the Centre for Evidence and Implementation Science where she contributes to a variety of evidence synthesis projects.

Teaching

Janette Parr has experience of teaching on various public health related modules, most recently facilitating small group discussions for a BSc in Health and Medical Sciences course and a MBChB programme. Janette also marked student assignments for a masters level distance learning module called “Understanding Research and Critical Appraisal in Health Care” (UReCA).

Research

Janette’s activity focuses on synthesising research evidence. She has contributed to rapid, systematic, and realist reviews, as well as an evidence and gap map. She provides comprehensive research support across all stages of projects - from stakeholder-driven research question development to delivering high-quality, deadline-driven reports. By transforming complex evidence into clear, reliable, and actionable insights, her work informs decision-making in health and social care. Committed to methodological innovation, she continually refines her approaches to tackle complex research challenges.
