Character Development in Sport & Exercise

This module aims to study character building in sport and exercise by investigating models of morality, moral development, and sportspersonship that have been applied in physical activity contexts. In doing so, psychosocial influences of prosocial and antisocial behaviours in and out of sport and exercise will be considered. In addition, ethical issues in sport such as the use of performance enhancing drugs will be studied. Finally, the effectiveness of sport and exercise interventions within positive youth development programmes and other social initiatives aimed at developing key life skills will be investigated.
