This module covers an introduction to functional anatomy and human movement. It will focus on the anatomy of bones, joints and muscles within the musculoskeletal system. It will examine the biomechanics of movements found in a range of sport and exercise situations. It will cover the application of basic exercises for strength and flexibility and explore how anatomy helps us to understand the causes and treatments of common injuries. The anatomy lectures will be shared with Physiotherapy UG students (module code TBC) within the School of Sport, Exercise & Rehabilitation Sciences. The regular provision of homework sheets in conjunction with online resources will be used to guide independent study. A laboratory practical will provide the opportunity to develop practical skills and data analysis techniques.
