Rewriting the Book: The Library of Birmingham

Dates
Thursday 30 May 2013 (10:00-11:00)

The £188.8m Library of Birmingham opens in September this year, and will be the largest public library in Europe. It will provide a showcase for the city's internationally important collections of archives, photography and rare books. New facilities will include a gallery space to showcase the collections, a new flexible studio theatre (to be shared with the Birmingham Repertory Theatre), an outdoor amphitheatre and two garden terraces.

On Thursday 30 May, you can get an exclusive, behind the scenes look at the new Library of Birmingham. Project Director Brian Gambles, architect Francine Houben, and Councillor Ian Ward, Deputy Leader of Birmingham City Council will be at Hay discussing bringing such an ambitious project to fruition.

Tickets for this talk, and other talks featuring in the Birmingham Speakers at Hay series, are available directly from the Hay Festival.
