Greater Birmingham & Solihull Institute of Technology logoThe IoT is transforming STEM education by addressing specific technical skills gaps in this area. It is a collaboration between employers, further education and higher education providers.

The IoT will target under-represented learners, giving them a clear progression route from education into technical jobs and providing employers with a skilled workforce.
IoTs are designed for:

  • young people taking T levels or A levels who want to progress to higher technical education
  • adult learners who want access to further training
  • people in employment who want to develop new skills


The Greater Birmingham & Solihull IoT specialises in Engineering and Manufacturing includes all further education colleges and higher education institutions in the region. The IoT is advised by a group of employers and stakeholders to ensure that it is employer-led and responds to the needs in our region.
