MSc Computer Science, School of Computer Science

Why did you originally apply to do your chosen course at Birmingham?

I applied because I was interested in getting a Masters in Computer Science and the University of Birmingham seemed like the perfect place to do a conversion degree. I was particularly convinced by the campus, the Open Day and the modules included in the course description.

What do you think are the best points of your course?

The best points are the breadth and depth of knowledge acquired. I think we are learning about many areas within the domain (fundamentals), but at the same time we are required to focus on particularly important topics (eg. programming). It is challenging but enjoyable at the same time.

What is the best thing about studying at the University of Birmingham?

The campus is great for studying, both individually and in groups. Facilities like the library, the common rooms in the Computer Science building and the computer labs provide everything that a Computer Science postgraduate could possibly need.

What advice would you give to studying thinking about studying on the course?

I would advise anyone to visit the postgraduate open day because it is perfect for getting to know more about the University and how the course actually works. Anyone applying should be prepared to work hard through the course but it is definitely worth it!
