The John Ash Lecture 2019, sponsored by the Sir Arthur Thomson Charitable Trust, returns to the Medical School on Wednesday 4 December. This year's guest speaker is author, broadcaster and historical consultant, Hallie Rubenhold. Hallie will speak on 'The Five: The Untold Lives of the Women Killed by Jack the Ripper'.

Hallie is a bestselling author, social historian and broadcaster.

Author of 'The Covent Garden Ladies' (2005), 'The Harlot's Handbook' (2007) and 'Lady Worsley's Whim' (2008), Hallie's historical studies and novels have inspired television dramas and been adapted as radio broadcasts. Her recent historical work, 'The Five' (2019), is the first full-length biography of the five victims of Jack the Ripper and promises to completely change the narrative of the Ripper murders, if not historical accounts of violent death more generally.

'The Five' has been long listed forthe Baillie Gifford Prize for Nonfiction and short listed for the Crime Writers Association Award for Nonfiction.

The lecture will take place between 4.30-5.30pm with a reception in the CM Atrium that will commence immediately after the lecture at 5.30pm and will finish at 6.30pm.

All are welcome to attend.
