"My name is Becky Varney and I’m the Student Services Centre Manager and I manage the Wellbeing provision within the College of Medical and Dental Sciences.

The Wellbeing provision we offer is practical and emotional support. Sometimes circumstances like ill health, family problems or financial difficulties can have a detrimental impact on a student’s ability to function and consequently on their potential to achieve academically. We’ll help you to find the support you need.

The team is based within the Medical School building with support available at the Dental School from a dedicated member of staff. We provide support to all students within the College including undergraduate, postgraduate taught and postgraduate research students.

Our team offers scheduled appointments and drop-in sessions at key points during the academic year. You can also approach our information desk where you can ask any question you may have. We work closely with colleagues in Central Student Services and refer students as required to other services including academic support.

There will be several opportunities to meet the Wellbeing team during Welcome Week. Come along and meet us at the Medical School or on campus during Welcome. There’ll be lots of activities and opportunities to chat to the team. We’re looking forward to welcoming you.

We know you will be excited and perhaps a little bit apprehensive about coming to a new place. We just want you to know that whatever you’re feeling, we are here to support you and we look forward to meeting you soon."
