Abstract:

The University of Birmingham is one of the largest providers of distance learning programmes in the UK. Investing in online learning increases global reach and extends access to our education to students in a more accessible and flexible way, reflecting our Birmingham 2030 Strategy Framework ambition.

In this session we will discuss what is fully online distance learning and highlight how different it is from the emergency online provision that was used for our campus-based programmes during the pandemic. This will be an opportunity to clear up some facts and clarify common misconceptions linked to online learning.

This is an opportunity to discuss with College Distance Learning Leads and help demystify what online distance learning is as there are many misconceptions. This session is linked to the recently launched CANVAS distance learning course “The reality of developing fully online distance learning. Behind the scenes, facts checked”.
