Abstract:
The purpose of this workshop is to introduce you to some of the key concepts in the “ABC method” of learning design, or to provide a refresher if you are familiar with it. In the workshop, you will reflect on some learning activities you use in your courses and decide which of the six “Learning Hats” they fall into (acquisition, discussion, practice, production, collaboration and / or investigation). We will briefly discuss digital tools that might be useful for each activity type. There will be an opportunity to reflect on the balance of learning activity types in your module, and whether you would like to make any changes in this regard. We will end with final questions and comments, focusing on how you might apply these insights to your teaching practice.
