Why are we introducing the ProFF - Transcript

The ‘ProFF’ is our university-wide project to introduce a Programme Architecture for the Future. The project aims to ensure that our degree programmes remain attractive to students in the future, we are future-proofed against external challenges, and we can offer a range of new benefits for students and staff.

The broad architecture has been approved by Senate. From 2023-24, programmes will be aligned with one of our programme archetypes. For some programmes, there will be very few changes needed, while other programme teams are already planning to take advantage of new opportunities. All programmes will be underpinned by more consistent structures and principles, which will reduce complexity and transaction ‘admin’, make it easier for students to navigate, and easier for staff to innovate and collaborate across disciplines.

Students will have more opportunities to personalise their study pathways and switch pathways (in cognate disciplines) if they have made the wrong study choice. This flexibility will be increasingly important for future generations of Covid-impacted students.

Importantly, our ProFF will provide all UG and PGT students with more opportunities to develop ‘future-focused skills’ – within and beyond the curriculum - ensuring they’re better prepared for next generation jobs and opportunities.

The ProFF Delivery Team is partnering with Colleges to help you align all UG and PGT programmes with an archetype so you are ready to take advantage of the new opportunities for your students.
