Using the Future Skills Academic Toolkit to Embed Graduate Attributes into Your Teaching - Transcript

Simon Clewes:

The Future Skills Academic Toolkit is designed to support you to embed the University’s Graduate Attributes into your teaching. Graduate Attributes are the skills, behaviours, and values that students develop to support them whilst at UoB and Beyond, and the Toolkit contains a curated — and continually growing — selection of resources to support embedding these into the curriculum. These resources have been designed and delivered by academics and professional services staff. This video will provide a concise guide on how to use, navigate, and interact with the Toolkit.

When you select one of the Graduate Attribute groups from the Toolkit homepage, this allows you to either browse an up-to-date list of the newest content for this group, or alternatively you can select a specific attribute within this group to be taken through to a full list of resources relevant to that attribute. Here, you can find examples of the attribute in modules, assessments, wider resources, micro-employability courses, and curated LinkedIn learning resources, to support you to embed the attribute into your teaching. When you select a resource, this takes you through to a page which gives an overview of this session, and the slides which you can download.

We’d like to encourage you to submit your own resources to share within the Toolkit, as well as providing any comments, suggestions, or questions you may have. On the homepage, you can see three ways in which you can engage with the Toolkit: ‘share content’, ‘request support’, or ‘provide feedback’. The ‘share content’ function allows you to upload a resource, as well as sharing any insights about the impact of this content on student and staff experience; the ‘request support’ function allows you submit a request for curriculum enhancement work which will then be shared with colleagues who are specialists in this field.

We’re excited to see the Future Skills Academic Toolkit continue to grow over the coming weeks, months, and years, and we hope that you will find the resources useful in embedding Graduate Attributes into your teaching.
