Introduction to Teaching and Supporting Learning

Suitable for: Early career staff involved in teaching and supporting learning, staff who support academic provision, experienced staff who might be new to teaching (or teaching in the UK HE context) or staff who have a limited teaching portfolio.

This is a non-credit bearing module that is studied as part of the Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education. It can also be taken solely for the purposes of CPD with an opportunity, for those interested, to pursue a teaching qualification / recognition on completion. There are two options available:

  1. Completion of an assignment, leading to the Staff and Educational Development Association’s Supporting Learning award.
  2. Application for Associate Fellowship or Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy via the University’s Beacon Professional Recognition Scheme. You will be able to use knowledge gained during the module, combined with discussion of your teaching experiences, to inform your application.
