Celebrating the works of Maya Angelou Throughout October, I-Lounge, Main Library (R22 on campus map)

A Special Collections exhibition celebrating the work of Maya Angelou, including her inspirational autobiography 'I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings' and her poems 'Phenomenal Woman', 'And Still I Rise', and 'On the Pulse of Morning,' written for Bill Clinton’s inauguration in 1993. Don't miss a special talk on Maya Angelou's life and work on 15th October!

The Danford Collection of West African Art and Artefacts celebrates and showcases the extensive array of cultural traditions and artistic expression from the countries in West Africa. Its contents ranges from historical utensils to contemporary fine art, and it is one of the finest collections of its kind in Europe.  A major part of the collection is on permanent display in the Danford Room and is available for viewing throughout Black History Month at the above dates and times.

Crossing Boundaries video installation Thursday 8th, 15th and 22nd October, 17.30-20.00 Watson Building (R15 on campus map)

The ‘Crossing Boundaries’ video installation, created by Birmingham-based artist Katherine Hannaford, explores cultural diversity at the University of Birmingham. The looping video will be projected onto the outside of the Watson Building.
