• Bringing together our breakthroughs in cancers, to find where a treatment or test for one kind of cancer might help for another. 
• Many infectious diseases are becoming resistant to antibiotics, making them highly dangerous again. Our work includes alternatives to antibiotics and a diagnostic suitcase in a lab, which can identify new diseases early so they can be contained while new treatments are rapidly developed. 
• Birmingham researchers found a way to continue surgery safely during the pandemic - now we are preventing infection from other diseases during surgery, while increasing the number of surgeons in developing countries. 
• Find better ways to address miscarriage, caesareans, stillbirths and blood loss during labour.
