Join our digital masterclass on MSc Railway Systems Engineering and Integration and find out what it’s like to pursue a postgraduate degree in Railway Engineering at the University of Birmingham Dubai.

Abstract

As the railway sector in the UAE witnesses significant growth due to advancements in the Etihad Rail project, our recently launched Railway Systems Engineering and Integration Masters programme meets the growing market demands of the region by providing an all-round level of knowledge and education to equip the next generation of industry leaders in railway engineering.

Attend our digital masterclass to learn about how our postgraduate degree offers an in-depth knowledge of railway engineering, their systems integration skills and subsystems, and better understanding of complex interactions between them.

This masterclass will provide you with an overview of the programme and the various career outcome associated. While the programme is widely pursued by railway engineers and managers, the programme is also open to new entrants in the rail industry.

This event will take place on Zoom and a link will be shared upon booking.

Meet the Experts

Dr Krishnan G Venkateswaran
Assistant Professor of Engineering at University of Birmingham

Krishnan is a Senior Technical Officer at the Birmingham Centre for Railway Research and Education. He has extensive experience and experience in signalling systems and the simulation of railway control and operational environments and supports the delivery of teaching and training at BCRRE.

He has previously supported organisations including RAIB, Network Rail and CAF integrate digital systems and knowledge to develop new capabilities, including the development and validation of a new continuous train protection system, benchmarking it against existing systems, through to carrying out feasibility studies into the use of cost-effective, portable, ETCS Level 2 units for charter trains, reducing the cost and risks associated with national fitment of ERTMS.

About the programme

The MSc Railway Systems Engineering and Integration programme provides an all-round level of knowledge and education and equips the next generation of industry leaders. The course enables you to consider the broader aspects of railway systems and how they interact. Many major projects fail at the interdisciplinary interfaces, and this is precisely the area where the MSc course can assist.

The programme equips professionals with the skills and in-depth knowledge they require to work at a more senior level and on major projects in railway systems and engineering. You will study with Europe’s largest and most diverse railway research & education group with extensive links into industry. What this means is that students benefit from learning about rail and rail systems from the fundamentals, through to the latest research and industrial applications.

Our leading academic staff in Dubai teach to the same standards as our UK based programmes and you will graduate with the same MSc degree from the University of Birmingham. The programme offers both part-time and full-time modes of study, providing you with the opportunity to tailor your learning experience to meet your personal and professional needs.
