This talk will give the audience an overview of the Computer Science discipline and its cutting-edge applications in multiple domains. The talk will begin with an introduction to Computer Science domain and the top reasons for majoring in CS. We will have a look at some of the interesting cross-discipline applications of computer science in the domains of Medical Sciences, Automotive Industry, Robotics, Simulation & Modeling, Finance and others. Followed by a brief overview of the computer science programmes at UoB Dubai and a discussion on the career opportunities for CS graduates. At the end, we will have a Q&A session for addressing any questions/clarifications from the audience.
Dr. Mian M. Hamayun, Assistant Professor and Head of Computer Science
Dr Mian M. Hamayun completed his PhD in Computer Science specializing in modeling and simulation of Multi-Processor System-on-a-Chip (MPSoC), from the University of Grenoble, France (2013). He has 12+ years of Academia & Industry experience, including University of Birmingham Dubai (UAE), National University of Sciences & Technology, Islamabad (PK), Virtual Open Systems, Grenoble (FR), Joseph Fourier University, Grenoble (FR) and Streaming Networks, Islamabad (PK). His research interests include Modeling & Simulation, Virtualization, Software Performance Estimation, Internet of Things and Cloud Computing.
