Renewing your student visa is a crucial step to ensure your studies are uninterrupted. You must renew your visa annually to cover the duration of your programme.
When to renew your visa
You must renew your student visa every year to continue studying in the UAE without interruption.
To avoid overstay fines and account for the renewal processing time, you should start your visa renewal at least 30 days before the expiry date.
Visa processing time
- Normal application: 4-6 weeks from the date of application on AXS portal
- Express application: 3-4 weeks from the date of application on AXS portal
Students are responsible for any fines incurred due to delays from late renewal applications.
How to renew your visa
Follow these steps to renew your visa. You must be in the UAE to begin the process.
- Complete your online registration: you must have completed your online registration for the new academic year
- Gather required documents: ensure you have all the necessary documents, including a copy of your residence permit/visa (must have at least 6 months validity at time of renewal), photo (following guidelines), and Emirates ID (colour copy of front and back)
- Complete the visa renewal application: fill in the required fields with your personal details, noting that it can only be initiated if you are in the UAE
- Make the renewal payment to the University via card payment or bank transfer
- Application: our team will apply to renew your student visa. During the renewal process, you cannot exit the UAE or apply for any other visa category until your new residency is issued on your passport
- Emirates ID collection: once your new Emirates ID has been delivered to campus, the University will contact you to collect it from the Student Hub
- Complete Right to Study Check
