The University of Birmingham is celebrating the opening of the ‘Green Heart’.

The Green Heart is the name given to the space which has been redesigned to open up the University of Birmingham campus in the way that the Founders imagined it would be, when the University was founded in 1900 - with views from one end of the campus down to Old Joe – the clock tower that can be seen from far and wide.

The redevelopment has been the result of over 2 years’ work, and the Green Heart is now in use every day.

Put a date in your 2019 diaries to join us for the Green Heart Festival.

What is The Green Heart Festival?

A year long celebration of the Green Heart, launching with a free weekend of family fun.

On Saturday 8 June there will be a community day – a variety of fascinating and hands on exhibits will highlight the recent research of the University such as black holes and gravitational waves, together with music and dance – all outdoors of course!  Throughout the weekend there will be a range of exciting outdoor music performances, with music from our talented University of Birmingham musicians.

All of this, alongside a full range of street food and drink, will be on offer throughout the weekend.

Against the amazing Green Heart background, this is a summer weekend not to be missed.

Further details will follow over the coming weeks.

The University of Birmingham is delighted to welcome the CBSO Song Festival to the Green Heart Festival Launch Weekend.
